Personal Experience

Mercy is a registered Water Engineer with EBK with over 10years progressive experience in solving complex problems in the WASH sector for the most vulnerable communities in the ASALS.

She has worked with several international NGOS including World Vision Kenya and Oxfam, providing technical expertise in WASH Infrastructure and WASH Governance and systems strengthening in different capacities and has successfully completed over $200 million worth projects both in the development and Emergency WASH and health response programs.

She has expertise in:

  • Advanced technical infrastructure management skills including effective design, monitoring and evaluation for focused efforts leading to achievement of quantifiable results
  • Efficient WASH programs management, advocacy, hygiene and sanitation behaviour change programming
  • Effective resource mobilization skills and management within complex operation areas with diverse cultures
  • Efficient WASH programs management, advocacy, hygiene and sanitation behaviour change programming
  • WASH governance, systems and structures strengthening with strength in working with the private sector for operation and maintenance of public water utilities

Besides her professional work as a WASH expert, she uses her voice as a female engineer to advocate for girls’ education amongst the pastoral communities of Kenya.

Her educational background is in BSc. Water and Environmental Engineering and post graduate diplomas in Global WASH – Health, project management and Leadership. She’s currently pursuing a Msc in Environmental engineering and Management.

She enjoys music, travelling and adventure.
